AIM:- Budding in Yeast.
MATERIALS
REQUIRED:-
Permeate slides showing budding in
yeast, Compound microscope.
PROCEDURE:-
- Take a small drop of the culture solution on a plane slide and cover it with the cover slip. Do not add any stain. Put the slide on the stage of the microscope.
- Adjust the objective lens of the microscope so that the slide is clearly focused.
OBSERVATIONS:-
- Yeast cells are usually spherical or oval in shape.
- Yeast cells show protuberances on them called ‘buds'. These buds upon reaching maturity separate from the parent cell. This process of reproduction is known as budding.
- Sometimes a chain of buds is seen the parent cell.
